PATIENCE

Patience as defined by the Thesaurus, can mean perseverance, endurance or persistence. This eight-lettered word has been used and abused so often, we tend to forget its significance in our daily existence.

Patience is the word of winners. It is the driving force behind every triumphant person. It is the word that will bring out the very best in each of us despite the obstacles we have to face as we go about our lives as normal, and sometimes, not so normal humans.

There are times when all the odds seem to be against us that we immediately say “I give up”. And yet we are aware that giving up means letting the odds gain more momentum against us. It means we have given up all chances to be a winner.

So what does it takes to have patience? It’s so simple to advise someone to be patient, and yet we know how hard being patient is.

Being patient means being insistent and focused on one’s goals in life. If you want to be ahead of the group, then let the others go ahead but plan your strategy and exercise patience and you will be ahead of them in the end.

Patience takes humility because it may mean accepting that you are sometimes wrong and that sometimes, not all facts and situations and even truth will be working for you. You may lag behind but patience will get you to your destination.

Being patient means letting all the others achieve their dreams first while waiting for that right moment when it will be your turn.

Sometimes, you may have to endure the pain, the humiliation and the indignity especially if you know that you have done what is right and yet you got nothing in return.

You have to persist against the odds and know that sometime, all your dreams will be a reality. That is why patience is synonymous with perseverance, endurance and persistence.
